Here is an example of our menu for 2016.
ALL our menu is available to take away – just ask.

Breakfast – Served from 8.30am to 1.30pm

Toast – white, wholemeal or gluten free.
Mark’s Muesli – a mix of oats, fruit and nuts.
Cereal – Weetabix or Cornflakes.
Porridge – Jumbo oats in milk.
Natural Yoghurt – plain and simple…
American Pancakes – best with a topping.
French Toast – or “eggy bread” if you prefer! Add….. Fresh Fruit or Berries, Mixed Nuts or Seeds, Homemade Jam or Marmalade, Syrup, Honey, Peanut Butter or…… Marmite!
Jiggers Breakfast (v) – Potato Rosti, topped with 2 free range eggs, tomato, mushrooms, baked beans.
Cumbrian Breakfast – Bacon, Cumberland sausage, 2 free range eggs, mushrooms, tomato, baked beans.
Omelette – A 2 egg oven baked omelette stuffed with a choice of 2 fillings.
Big Breakfast Butty – with Bacon or Cumberland sausage or 2 free range eggs.
For a treat you can swap your choice of egg for local Duck Eggs.

Lunch – served from 12.00pm to 2.00pm

Homemade Soup of the Day – served with crusty bread.
Quiche of the Day – Salad and potatoes.
Sandwiches – Crusty White Bread, Wholemeal or Granary Roll with a choice of fillings:
Home cooked ham, Cumbrian cheese, Fish fingers, Chicken breast, Peanut butter and jam, Banana, Cucumber, Marmite. All served with a salad garnish and homemade crisps.
We also have a Soup and Sandwich deal.
Cumbrian Rarebit – rich smooth cheesy toast.
Frittata – A quiche without the pastry – flavours change daily. Served with salad and new potatoes.
Laszlo’s Goulash – An authentic Beef Goulash served with crusty bread.

Any Time Bites

Nibbles – best served with a drink, but we don’t mind!
Sweet Potato Chips, Real Chips, Tortilla Chips, Mixed Olives, Crackling, Salt and Pepper Crisps.
Sharing Platters – also available for one:
Ploughmans – a selection of local cheese, ham, pickles, salad and crusty bread.
Tempura – chunks of seasonal vegetables in a light batter served with a selection of dips.

Betty’s Bakes – available all day and all night!

Homemade Cakes, Tray bakes, Biscuits and Scones.
With cream, Custard or Ice Cream if you wish.

Evening Menu – served from 5.00pm to 9.00pm

Main Courses

All main course dishes are served with a choice of Salad or Seasonal Vegetables, Hand cut Chips or Potatoes.

Beef and Beer Pie  Chunks of beef slowly cooked with onions and mushrooms in Black Sheep beer and topped with a crisp pie lid.
Pork and Apple Pepper Pot Crumble – Tender pieces of pork, apple and Pepperpot sausage in a cider gravy topped with a herby bread crumb crust.
Baked Sesame Chicken (gf) – Succulent chicken breast oven baked in a sesame seed coating.
Venison Casserole – Chunks of tender meat slowly braised with red onion, red wine and herbs.
Pumpkin and Sweet Potato Gnocchi (gf/v) – Served with a fresh tomato and basil sauce.
Falafel Pitta Salad Plate (gf/v)
Mushroom and Chestnut Hot Pot. (gf/v) – Sweet chestnuts and wild mushrooms in a light gravy and topped with sweet potato.
Frittata (gf/v) – Quiche without the crust! Please ask for today’s flavours.
8oz Sirloin Steak (gf) – Cooked to your liking and served with tomato and fried onions.
Lakeland Lamb (gf) – Cooked to your liking with a Cumberland Sauce glaze.
Cumberland Sausage Swirl – A classic served with Onion gravy.

As far as possible we cook from fresh natural ingredients and always keep meat and non-meat items separate.
We use semi-skimmed milk however we also keep skimmed and Soya milk.
As far as possible we do not add dressings or butter so that you can decide for yourself.

The Wilson’s of Embleton provide 3,500 Free Range Eggs daily and have been for 21yrs – and started with only 12 hens!!!
